Former New England Patriots Defensive End And Seafood Entrepreneur Jarvis Green To Discuss Cooking And Entrepreneurship

Two-time Super Bowl champion and food entrepreneur Jarvis Green will visit Babson College on October 18th to share cooking tips and discuss his career arc – from New England Patriots defensive end to Owner/President of Oceans 97, Inc., a National Minority Supply Diversity Chain Company.

  • 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., Crossroads Café,  Reynolds Campus Center – Live Cooking Demo by Babson Dining Services Executive Chef Alex Brugger and Information Table by Jarvis Green with autograph signing.
  • 5 p.m. – 6 p.m., Foundations of Management and Entrepreneurship Amphitheater, Park Manor West – Presentation with Jarvis Green followed by Q & A.  Green will discuss his career arc – from 2-time Super Bowl Champion with the New England Patriot to shrimp wholesaler entrepreneur.

About Jarvis Green

Jarvis Green is the Owner/President of Oceans 97, Inc., a National Minority Supply Diversity Chain Company that is located on the bayous of Louisiana. Jarvis grew up in South Louisiana where he developed a love of seafood and cooking at an early age. He attended Louisiana State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Engineering. While playing football at LSU he enjoyed cooking for teammates. He continued his culinary adventures throughout his 10-year NFL career that included two Super Bowl Championships with the New England Patriots. During this time he completed a two-year internship program with Atwell’s Restaurant Group where he focused on learning the management aspects of the hotel and restaurant business.

After completing his NFL career in 2012, Jarvis returned to Louisiana and started his foray into the shrimp industry working as a salesman/broker at a shrimp processor and wholesaler. He then went to work at a shrimp processing facility and learned every step of the labor-intensive process including de-heading, peeling, freezing, cooking and packaging. The many months of work in the processing facility gave him an in-depth knowledge of the shrimp industry and a deep appreciation for the strong work ethic within the industry’s labor force.

Jarvis has participated in cooking demonstrations at approximately 100 food & beverage shows in the Boston area including the New England Food Show/North America Food Show, Associated Wholesale Grocer Summer Food Show, the HEB Food and Wine Show and participated in Season Two of the wildly popular Master Chef television series. In addition, Jarvis prepared sales and marketing demonstrations to be presented by chefs with over 1,200 retailers. He continues to participate in demonstrations at various retail locations as well as Boston’s Children’s Hospital and North Shore Medical Center.
