Past Summer Venture Program Participants: Where Are They Now? (2014 Series: Part 2)

When Lei Wang M’13 started the Summer Venture Program in 2012 with his venture PhotoOil, he had a basic network of artists back home in China, but was unsure whether his concept would actually work. The Summer Venture Program provided an opportunity for Wang to focus on his business fulltime and take his opportunity to the next level.

“The Summer Venture Program is the place to be if you want to seriously focus on your business. The advisors helped me define who my customers were and were instrumental in narrowing down my value proposition. They challenged every feature of the business, but also gave suggestions on how to test my go-to market strategy.” Wang shared that SVP provided an environment where he could experiment different ways to market to his customers. With the help of advisors and peers, Wang was able to analyze what was the best way to bring value to his customers. Wang has continued to grow the business since his time in SVP. The business model has matured over the years, and Wang has received investment and grown his team. Wang is continuing to grow his sales channels, focusing on the pets industry. Meet the 2014 Summer Venture Program participants at the Summer Venture Showcase on Thursday, July 31.
