2017 Spring Graduate Career Fair Set To Sail!

Still hunting for that perfect job or summer internship?  The Graduate CCD office at Babson is excited to announce its 5th annual Spring Graduate Career Fair in Knight Auditorium on Tuesday, April 4th from 2:00-4:00 p.m. If past years are any indication, this year’s event will be a great platform to learn about exciting opportunities at many employers in our region.   As of this writing, 37 employers have registered and are eager to meet you! The industries represented are as diverse as the companies themselves and include the following sectors:

How will this event work, you might be asking yourself? Current MBA & MS students, including both full-time and part-time can participate by registering in Career Connections under the “Employer Events” section.  The preparation work that you do ahead of the event will be critical to your success. Here are some key steps to help prepare you:

  • RSVP now in Career Connections
  • If possible, attend one of the two Career Fair Prep Sessions (March 29 and 30th from 1:30-2:30 p.m.) in Olin 225
  • If you can’t make it to one of the above sessions, make sure to read Making the Most of a Career Fair, an excellent article written by my colleague Margaret Jones on optimizing your chances for success
  • Begin by researching current list of employers attending. This list captures the name(s) of people coming from each company as well as the industry sector, whether they are seeking interns or Full-time hires and if they are open to considering international students. We will be updating this list regularly as companies are often added (or withdrawn) sometimes leading up to the day of the event
  • We have asked those employers who are coming to please post their openings in Career Connections prior to the event so look for those roles relevant to your own interests
  • Companies have the option of staying after the event and interviewing those they feel might be good candidates for their openings. Knowing you may only have a few minutes to “present” and pitch yourself during the fair, make sure you have practiced so what you are conveying to them is relevant to what their needs are. If they think you are a strong candidate they will invite you to interview afterwards
  • You can read some student and employer experiences from last year’s event to get a better idea of how you can prepare

Practice and preparation do pay off, as evidenced by comments from Tony Carlino, a Talent Consultant at MilliporeSigma, who had a steady stream of students at his table last year, for a majority of the event and offered some interesting insights. “During the event I noticed that being a student at Babson means being a part of an energetic, dynamic group of people who are passionate, curious and committed to their areas of study. The event gave us the chance to see the value of the education provided here and how that translates into quality candidates. We noticed right away how prepared the students were and how organized the event itself was.”
