Spring 2014 Promises Teamwork, Competition, and Fun for MBAs

The Spring Semester will arrive on Tuesday bearing ample opportunities for Babson students to satisfy their competitive and entrepreneurial cravings in 2014. Students will pit their ideas against those of others’ for fun and the opportunity to win cash prizes to help fuel their respective ventures.

The Babson Energy and Environmental Club will host its inaugural Sustainability Case Competition on February 28, sponsored by Toyota. Babson students will work in teams of three to five members to develop a new case about future sustainability in the automotive and transportation industries. Finalists will receive $6,500 and free tickets to the upcoming eighth annual Babson Energy and Environmental Conference this March.

The Babson Marketing Case Competition will be held April 11-12, and will provide MBA students from across the globe the opportunity to apply entrepreneurial thinking to solve a current marketing challenge. Student teams will compete for up to $6,500 in cash prizes. Last year’s winners were as follows:

FIRST PLACE: “Team Sharks” from Babson
SECOND PLACE: “Team Fuqua” from Duke Fuqua
THIRD PLACE: “Team Shine” from Babson

Lightspeed Venture Partners is accepting applications from MBA students for its 2014 Lightspeed Fellowship Program. The firm will provide the necessary resources, mentorship and guidance to enable aspiring entrepreneurs to spend their summers turning their entrepreneurial dreams into corporate realities. Each selected team will receive $5,000 per team and $10,000 per team member, mentoring from Lightspeed’s partners, space at Lightspeed’s office in Menlo Park, CA and additional resources to help make connections and get started.
