2018 Rocket Pitch – Call for Pitches!

Linh Le MBA’19 presenting at 2017 Rocket Pitch

Working on a business opportunity? Want to pitch your idea and get meaningful, immediate feedback? The answer is simple: participate in Rocket Pitch on Thursday, November 8!

Now in its 19th year, Rocket Pitch is an annual event where Babson (students and alumni), Olin Engineering and Wellesley College student entrepreneurs pitch their business ideas to a large audience of students, faculty, entrepreneurs, investors, and service providers. Each entrepreneur is given three minutes and three PowerPoint slides to quickly and succinctly deliver the critical differentiating elements of their business ideas. Pitches happen in rapid succession in multiple rooms.

Last year we introduced the feedback forum, where the audience had the opportunity to ask questions and provided feedback to the presenter. The entrepreneurs were able to take this feedback and possibly apply it back to their ventures! Our own Jake Maude participated in Rocket Pitch last year and shared, “…feedback opened up, with a number of audience members contributing, questioning, and commenting. It was invaluable information, but it was also quite difficult to not answer the questions that were being asked, especially when it was a question I was excited about!”

If you’re looking to present this year, the deadline to apply is Wednesday, October 10 at 12pm EDT (noon). The application covers:

  • Description of venture
  • Customer problem/need
  • Value proposition
  • Target market
  • Sales channel(s)
  • Actions taken, milestones achieved
  • Call to action

We’ve had many successful startups participate in Rocket Pitch, including InnerCity Weightlifting, DARTdrones and Orora Global. Are you next?
