Accolades and Accomplishments: News from SVP Alumni

Since its founding in 2009, our Summer Venture Program has influenced the lives of over 250 student entrepreneurs. Many of these entrepreneurs continue with their ventures, found new ventures, or apply their skills and experiences from SVP elsewhere. We are always excited and proud to hear their news and updates.

This summer, SVP alums took part in accelerators, worked to raise seed funding, won awards, celebrated milestones, and more. Here are just a few of their updates:

The Business Innovation Factory announced that Emily Levy ’16 and SVP’15 alumna, CEO and Co-Founder of Mighty Well, will speak at this fall’s Collaborative Innovation Summit. The BIF Summit will take place September 13-14, 2018 in Providence, RI and Emily will speak as a storyteller. Babson Magazine recently profiled Emily, her goal of transforming the patient experience, and Mighty Well’s stylish, functional PICC line covers and other apparel for those with chronic conditions.

Carl Sanders-Edwards MBA’12 and SVP’11 alum, founder of the leadership development platform Adeption, rang the NASDAQ stock exchange bell on August 15, 2018 to celebrate his graduation from NASDAQ’s Milestone Makers program. Milestone Makers is a 12 week program designed to help founders set and achieve critical milestones, and Carl was one of only 12 individuals selected for this summer’s cohort. When he rang the NASDAQ closing bell, his photo and Adeption’s logo were displayed on the NASDAQ tower in Times Square.

Bryanne Leeming MBA’16 and SVP’15 alumna, founder and CEO of Unruly Studios, won $25,000 and an editorial feature in Inc. Magazine in The UPS Store Small Biz Salute Pitch Off Contest on August 8, 2018. Unruly Studios combines physical exercise and STEM education with Unruly Splats, its programmable, light-up buttons. Bryanne plans to use the prize money to develop curriculum for use in the classroom and in after school programs.
