I’ve always wanted to have my own business at some point in life but never knew when or how I should start.
Why wait until after graduation to pursue a start-up when you can do that right now? I realized that some of my friends already had multiple companies and were still doing well in school. If they can do it, I sure can too! At this point, my motivation was at an all time high. But still, something was holding me back. I realized that I actually have no idea where to begin. The fear of failure was also lingering in the back of my mind. I had great ideas but didn’t know how to execute them.
I started talking to my friends about it and realized that I may not know the logistics behind a start up venture, but they do. They told me about their start up venture, Jossle, and I fell in love with it. My head was bustling with ideas on how to add to their strategy. I knew that I could help them expand their company. I shared my ideas with them and eventually, I joined their team. I began learning what goes into running a business and have learned more from them than I could have ever imagined.
I’ve always thought that I would have my own business after I graduate. I thought that focusing on my classes and getting good grades would eventually teach me how to be an entrepreneur but the truth is, it really didn’t and won’t. The only thing that will is actually starting a business. We learn by doing. So why not start right now? What have you got to lose? Take a chance. Do something. Learn from your peers. Grow.
