Faster Website Tips #2: Image Optimization

You need a fast website to succeed. You can have the best product in the world but if you have so little as 2 seconds of load time you will have lost many potential customers who can’t stand a wait time. And if you add a super tiny amount of time as 450 milliseconds then you lose even more. It is a risky game to play but you need a fast website to turn those potential customers into loyal customers. And we all know that your business relies on customers. If your website is slow, you should do all you can to make it faster, and here are some tips how to do just that so that way your website will be that much better.

When it comes to images on your website, you can be sure that they contribute to some major slow website speed. So after your website designers pack up and head off to another project of their own, it is your job to convert your images to other image files to take up less space and thus make your website that much faster. For example, are an example, did your developers leave you with GIF file images? If so, that is the worst image file you could have gotten. It takes up a lot of space. Convert these image files to PNG files. PNG files are the smallest image file size you can find. They are even better quality than GIF. When you have picture of your product, you should use JPG files.
