School is definitely back in full swing! After a long break - I must admit I am really excited about making the most of my last semester in college. I spent most of my vacation in Seoul, Korea and in New York spending time with family and friends and celebrating getting hired. It is a tough market out there right now and I am thankful to have my post-graduate plans established so early. But, for those of you who are wondering what it is like for Babson seniors who are still looking for jobs - our Center for Career Development just launched a series of workshops and seminars on “How to Find a Job in this Economy” and are working closely to help seniors adapt their resumes, tweak their strategy, and ultimately survive this economic slump fabulously. We are all hanging in there in fine style. As of midnight I believe, there are exactly ONE HUNDRED DAYS TILL GRADUATION! And the countdown begins. It is hard to believe though that everything is my “last time doing [FILL IN BLANK] in college”: my last President’s Ball, my last semester in the Babson Dance Ensemble, last semester on a meal plan! And at the same time, I am so excited to enjoy every day I have left in college. I won’t go into details, but I can assure you, I am having a blast. Tonight is my suitemate’s birthday (and since I am pretty sure she does not read this Admission Blog, I’ll share the surprise here). My other suitemates and I are preparing to: 1. Break into her room and fill it with balloons, glitter, streamers, confetti, and whatever else we find at iParty (conveniently located only 7 minutes away from school for all our fiesta needs) 2. Bake her a cake in the shape of her favorite animal – a pig. I still have not figured out the details about how I am going to make this happen, but I’ll take pictures if it turns out cute 3. Eat some cake 4. Shmush the rest of the cake in her face, hair, nostrils, and ears. Tomorrow evening, we have plans to have a civil group dinner and night out on the town at Privus, a swanky Japanese-inspired lounge. Should be fantastic. After all, it is the last birthday she will be having in college with us. So we’re all making each and every day count. All one hundred of them. Cheers, Debs |
