As fall semester wraps up, I wanted to take a minute to reflect a bit. This has been one of the most emotionally and physically draining semesters of my life - with job hunting, homework, exams, and a thesis to write. But now that everyone is preparing to head home for the winter and December grads start to say goodbye, it’s beginning to dawn on me that I really don’t have much time left as a full-time student. As friends in grades beneath me prepare to go study abroad next year, I realized that I won’t ever get to see them again because I will have graduated by the time they come back to Babson. Hence, I have developed a severe case of senioritis. Senioritis: highly contagious condition found in 4th year college and university students. Symptoms include procrastination of academic responsibilities, excessive socializing with peers, and an increase usage of Facebook. Other rare but serious side effects include red or puffy eyes from excessive crying, failure from second semester classes, and angry phone calls from parents. My priorities have changed dramatically over the past few weeks. I recently signed my employment papers with the New England Consulting Group so I have a job lined up for me after graduation. I have an apartment waiting for me in New York after I move out of my dorm. I no longer have to apply for jobs or go to interviews. So now, I just feel like the most important thing to do is enjoy my last winter vacation as a student (because you will never get another 6-week long vacation once you start working!) and spend my free time solidifying the great friendships I have made at Babson and creating enough fantastic memories to last a lifetime. So for those of you seniors stressing, job hunting, worried about grades…relax a little. Enjoy the holidays. Spend your last few days before break with your friends. In the grand scheme of things, you really won’t regret getting an A- instead of that A, but you will regret not spending more time soaking in “college life” while you can. So on that note: HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE! STAY WARM AND THE NEXT TIME I BLOG WILL PROBABLY BE FROM NEW YORK! Warm and best holiday regards, Deborah
