From the viewpoints of current students, admission counselors and the dean of admission

This month has been the craziest time for seniors - with job applications, interviews, midterms, classes, and trying to enjoy our last year in college - barely have time to think!

Today, I just took my first midterm of the semester in Linear Algebra and Dynamical Systems. This is a core class to fulfill the Quantitative Methods concentration. Believe it or not (I’m not going to lie, although this is going to make me sound totally nerdy), I really like the material we’re learning. We use MatLab to create and solve matrices for business problems, like cost allocation, inflow and outflow calculations. And job recruiters, particularly for jobs in finance, were really impressed and happy to see some MatLab training since it’s used for a lot of optimization and fancy shmancy analysis. Too bad the test was hard. There goes my A for the class : (

On a lighter note though, this past weekend was Family Weekend at Babson. My parents flew into New York from Seoul on Friday morning and drive up Saturday afternoon. We spent all day catching up and shopping (our entire family loves to shop - seriously). Since I had that huge Linear Algebra exam to study for all weekend, we decided to stay close to school so we went to Natick Mall, which thankfully, has an awesome selection of stores! Daddy Cynn bought FOUR pairs of shoes plus some other fine leather goodies. Mommy Cynn said she was holding out to shop in New York. I got a new suit for the ongoing slew of interviews coming up this month. As if that wasn’t enough – we drove down a few miles down Route 9 to Chestnut Hill Mall (home to the ONLY Bloomingdale’s in the New England area!) and had a field day. Shopping with the ‘rents is always nice – they insist on paying for everything. Hey, on a college kid’s budget, help from mom and dad is alwaaaaaays nice : )

There’s nothing like retail therapy to get you through a rough month. If I end up doing well on that midterm, I’ll treat myself to something nice. If I tanked it, I’ll treat myself to something nice anyway.
